Due Credit

October 4, 2026

I asked some trusted folks in my life for feedback on the website before launching it. Some comments led me to understand that the current assumption is that everything online is AI generated. I dislike that AI is the first topic of consideration on this page, before the people and the work. In the name of clarity, and giving thanks and credit where it is due then, I offer the following:

This site was made by two humans (Me and Geoff), in real time.  The original art was created by me, Halima; and photographed with a real camera by Geoff, who wields said camera with skill and care.  The pictures you see are set in real spaces, namely my home – a place I nurtured into being with, and for, my family.

Geoff took all these bits and pieces and built a beautiful and cohesive website to hold it all. Thank you, Geoff, for the artistry, skill, kindness, and creative integrity you brought to this project, at all times; for meeting me with what I had and making it perceivable, understandable, and approachable. Blessings upon you and yours to last multiple lifetimes.

To Mike – thank you for holding steady, and for constantly trying to figure out how I like to be loved, not least agreeing to learn how to braid my hair. I love you dearly.

My deepest love to my children, until the end of time and beyond.

To my Artist Within, who sang sweet songs to me in the darkness; whose songs move my brush and call me back over and over and over again. I can die happy knowing that you have been called forth in this lifetime. I will follow you anywhere.

“

Would you just take, along with me, one minute to think of all the people who have loved you into being?

— Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (film)

Thank you to everyone who has loved me into being.

Supporting and loving an artist is a worthy life purpose, the return on investment cannot be measured. Be delighted by us, be touched by us, be changed by us. Do not worry for us, we are asking you to come into yourself, in your own way. We paint the doorways.
